Jacques has 30+ years experience in executive roles in the IT and Mining Industry.
Serving as CEO of the 2nd largest underground mining contractor in SA as well as a JSE listed mining company, before starting MTE in 2018.
VERNON CARR
CIO
Vernon brings over 30 years of experience in senior leadership, executive management, and director-level roles.
He holds an Honours Degree in Labour Relations and has extensive expertise in labour relations, industrial relations, HR strategy, restructuring, and corporate governance.
Combining strategic insight with practical business leadership, Vernon leads MTE’s investment strategy, focusing on capital deployment, strategic partnerships, stakeholder engagement, and long-term value creation.

CFO
Chané Roux is a seasoned Chief Financial Officer with 10+ years of experience in mining finance.
She brings strong expertise in financial management, strategic planning, and operational efficiency.
Accountability and a very high level of cost control are some of her key strengths.
Wilson Hlangwane
CHIEF GEOLOGIST
Wilson Botana Hlangwane (Pr.Sci.Nat., FGSSA) is a highly accomplished geologist, mining executive, and entrepreneur with more than 23 years of experience across the African mining and mineral exploration sectors.
A Fellow of the Geological Society of South Africa and a registered Professional Natural Scientist, Wilson brings a rare combination of technical excellence, operational leadership, and commercial insight to mining projects.
Jaco Du Preez
OPERATIONS MANAGER
Jaco has 25+ years of hands-on management and entrepreneurial experience. Since joining MTE in 2022, he has overseen IT, operations, and low-cost geological survey & mineral exploration.
He brings strong expertise in operational efficiency, systems development, complex modelling, and cost control.
Paul Richardson
GM MINING
Paul has more than 34 years of mining industry experience, having held executive, production management and general management roles at leading mining companies including Anglo Vaal, Gold Fields, Avgold and DRD.
His expertise spans mine operations and project development. Paul is passionate about developing local talent and helping teams achieve international standards of performance and safety.
Riaan Gilfillan
MINING ENGINEER
Riaan has 20+ years experience including 15 years in open-pit operations and 5 years underground. Served as GM at various mines and Managing Director Enviro Blasting Services. Holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining).
Inge Fritz
OFFICE MANAGER
Inge Fritz has a strong corporate background in customer service and stakeholder liaison from the airline industry, where she excelled in client relations, coordination, and back-office operations.
As MTE’s Office Administrator, she provides vital back-end support, ensuring seamless administrative and operational efficiency across all our mining projects in Zimbabwe, based in our Johannesburg office.
